Cali is a small 42 lbs, female English Bulldog with a beautiful brindle and white coat. Cali is a very happy-go-lucky girl, who wants your attention at ALL times! She enjoys snuggling.

Cali like any many other bulldogs and gobbles her food as quickly as possible which has caused her a bout of Aspiration Pneumonia, but she is expected to recovery just fine.  With that being said, feeding her slowly is very important. She is such a tiny girl that she only gets 3/4 c at a time. She is territorial when it comes to food and that can make her also try to eat quickly.

Cali is housebroken, but she can be lazy and stubborn, so if you don’t stay on top of her potty schedule and force her to go out, she will go in the house. She is crate trained, but will not voluntarily enter, so it’s best to coax her with a treat.

I would suggest an only dog household, as she is jealous at times and wants to be the center of attention. She wants to claim you, so if she is sitting in your lap and another dog comes near, she growls a little. however, if you are willing to put in the additional time at redirection, she is good with other dogs. She can be protective too, at times.  Cali is very curious about cats, especially since they are smaller than she is. Redirected by telling no or walking her away from the situation normally does the trick. She is not interested in playing with toys, but has been known to aggressive with other dogs while they’re playing with her foster mom. She is possessive of her food, so she definitely does not want any other dogs around her when she eats.

Being the attention seeker she is, she LOVES children!!  Her surrendering family said she loved the new baby as well. She has two human foster siblings, ages 13 & 16, and she absolutely adores them. She seems to really take a liking to her human foster brother.

Her ideal family would require some patience and diligence with her potty schedule, and a willingness to be consistent with redirecting if she’s not going to be the only dog in the home.
