15 Oct Hazel
Hi, my name is Hazel! I’ve been with Indiana Bulldog Rescue (IBR) for a few weeks now and I am just loving my new life! I’m a wiggly and energetic 3 year old Bulldog who found herself wandering the streets somehow. Some nice folks at a shelter took me in and waited for my family to come get me, but no one stepped forward. It was loud and scary there, and they could see I was a special girl, so they reached out to the nice people at IBR to see if they could help me get healthy and find a family to call my own.
My foster mama sometimes calls me Hazel Horse, because she says my favorite speed is gallop! I am definitely not a lazy bullie girl! I love to run, do somersaults and barrel rolls in the yard, jump, run, play, and run! When I get the zoomies, I’m like a bowling ball on legs and can easily knock down anything in my path with the momentum, so it’s recommended that I not be in a family with little humans. I just don’t know my own strength! It would probably also be best if my forever home has a fenced yard, because when I get going it can be really hard to stop. Girls just wanna have fun and zoom, zoom, zoom!
Another one of my favorite things is all the attention and lovins! I will paw, jump, or try to climb in your lap if I can. I just can’t get enough! I also like to chew on toys such as bones and Kongs, but will shred soft stuffies. My foster mama says I’m naughty when I get bored, and will grab things I’m not supposed to chew on even if there’s a big pile of toys on the floor. Like dad’s hat. The remote. A rug. A cell phone. The toy basket. Socks. Oops! I didn’t know those weren’t mine! I do have some energy to burn, so will need regular exercise time and some work on my manners to be my best bullie girl self.
There are some other dogs here, foster mama calls them the crazy Frenchies. They’re littler than me and they don’t like to run and play hard like I do. I’ve accidentally knocked them over a few times in my excitement. I also sometimes think I can take away toys they are chewing since I’m bigger, but they don’t seem to agree. I have met a 1 year old Beagle boy who came over and we played together, it was such fun. I would love to have a fur sibling that has higher energy like me and enjoys playing chase outside and tumbling around!
I eat my food like a champ. I’ve started putting on a little weight and you can’t see my ribs and spine anymore! My foster mama puts this awesome smelly fish oil stuff on my food too, because she says it’s good for my skin and coat which was a little dry and flaky when I came from the shelter. I try to stop wiggling when she cleans my eyes and puts some ointment in them, since she says it will help them not be dry and itchy.Foster mama told me those yucky parasites should be gone soon and it’s time for me to start looking for a family to call my own forever. That sounds so nice! Could it be you?
