Piper is a big, beautiful, and very healthy 6 year old girl. Unlike her black and white coat, Piper’s Personality is very colorful!
Piper was recently surrendered to IBR due to her prior adoptive family adding some young children to their home. Piper is a very sweet and loving girl, but is easily scared by fast movements and commotion. Her perfect forever home will be very calm and quiet, without many visitors coming and going and no children of any age.
Piper had a tough first few years of life, but she’s not sharing details with her foster mom. She has some personality quirks that will take patience, understanding, and some work from her adoptive family. When Piper decides she likes you, she LOVES YOU!!! She gives the best kisses and loves to sit all 82lbs of herself in your lap for scratches and back massages. She has been working on some basic commands and is very treat motivated. She knows “sit” and is working on “wait” and “down”. She takes her treats very politely and is always hopeful for more. Her foster mom believes that continued work on commands and training will boost her confidence and make her a more secure girl, overall.
Piper did live with a smaller dog in her last home. They said she took a little to warm up to him but eventually really liked to play! She does not seem to like dogs who are close to her size or larger, but we are still investigating that. She may do best with a well-socialized small/medium-sized fur sibling (French Bulldog or Boston Terrier size, for example).
Piper loves to run and play outside, but can be very protective of “her” yard. A fully fenced yard is a must for her! A privacy fence would be ideal, so she can chase balls, run, and sunbathe without constantly feeling that she has to be on yard-patrol duty.
Piper is definitely a special girl who has lots of love to give! Please submit an adoption application if you think you could be her perfect forever family.
