17 Mar Roscoe
My name is Roscoe! I’m an approximately 1-year-old, male Olde English Bulldog, but I’m anxiously awaiting my DNA results to know what my true genetic background is.
Although it’s not polite to ask this question, I’m a big boy, weighing in at about 65 to 70 pounds of nothing but love.
Previously, I had a great owner that I loved me dearly. Unfortunately, they passed away and I was brought to a shelter in KY. I was quickly rescued and brought to Indiana where I have been with my foster family for a couple of weeks.
I love affection! My favorite activity is to lay on you and give all the cuddles you will withstand. If you stop loving on me because you get distracted, I will make sure to nudge your hand several times to remind you that I need all your love and attention. Do not worry about my weight and size, I fit perfectly on your lap, even if that means I hang off a bit and have to rest my head on your chest. Believe me, it’s super comfortable!
I like to bark at other dogs, but my foster family has not introduced me to any neighborhood fellas that I’ve seen while walking. Cats are great though! I love to poke them with my nose and try to cuddle. My foster cat brothers and sisters don’t like my cuddles, but I’m hoping to change their minds. I love the kiddos, but I often forget how big I am, so I should probably not be around the small ones.
TOYS! OMG I LOVE toys… especially the squeaky ones! I’ll chew on those and make sweet music for your ears. I love them so much that I leave your shoes alone so you don’t have to spend money on shoes, which leaves more money for more toys. I also love to play with you on the tug rope. It’s also fun watching my foster mom get pulled off the couch. I think she does it on purpose to make me feel like I’m a strong boy.
I enjoy going for long walks. My foster dad said I pull too much and try to take him for walk (I’m just trying to show him all the great leaves I’m finding, and that we must get them before they fly away). My foster dad and I have come to an agreement, I wear my harness, he uses my short leash and carries treats. Treats! Don’t let me forget to tell you about treats! I am getting better at walking beside my foster dad and staying on his right side. The leaves still call to me; however, I’m learning that I get pats on my head and treats when I don’t pull.
Treats!!! I LOVE training treats! When I first arrived at my foster home, they would say these weird words like, sit and lay down. I had no idea what they were saying. Then they got me training treats. I am now learning when they say sit and when I do it, I get treats. I’m not fan of my crate, but if I get treats for going in, I’m much better at it.
I love people! I like to jump up and give them hugs. My foster mom and dad are teaching me it’s not polite to hug people without their permission, but I’m working on that. I also love to hug so it’s a bit of a hard habit for me to break. Kids are so much fun to play with, but I forget that I’m a big boy, so I occasionally knock them over sometimes (oops!). I like to wrap my big mouth around their arms, but I know I can’t use my teeth when I do that, so they just get slobber all over them.
I have a vet appointment soon for my intake vetting and to be neutered, so I will have to update you on my health soon.
Overall, I’m a loving dog that craves attention and love. It would be best if my forever family has lots of time to spend with me and does not leave me home alone for long periods of time. I’m used to spending time indoors with my foster family and I prefer to only go outside for walks or to go potty. I’ll play in the backyard, but only if I have someone to play with. I love being on the furniture, so I hope my forever family is understanding that I want to be by them any chance that I can get.
