Tips on Photos

Photo Submission Guidelines for Adoptable Dogs

High-quality, engaging photos help adoptable dogs find their forever homes faster! Please follow these guidelines when submitting photos for a dog’s bio on our website:

1. Quality Matters

  • Use clear, high-resolution photos (no blurry, grainy, or dark images).
  • Natural lighting is best—outdoor photos or well-lit indoor shots work great.
  • Avoid cluttered or distracting backgrounds.

2. Show Their Personality

  • Capture the dog happy and relaxed—smiling, playing, or snuggling.
  • If they have a favorite toy, bed, or activity, include a photo that reflects it.

3. Variety of Angles – Include at least 3-5 good photos, ideally:

✅ A full-body shot (standing or sitting) to show size and build.
✅ A close-up of the face to highlight their expression.
✅ An action shot (playing, running, or interacting with a person or another dog).
✅ A cuddly moment (to showcase their affectionate side).
✅ Any special features (unique markings, floppy ears, cute wrinkles, etc.).

4. People & Other Animals (Optional but Helpful!)

  • If the dog does well with kids, other dogs, or cats, a picture demonstrating this can be a great addition.
  • Make sure everyone in the photo is comfortable and the dog is safely introduced.

5. Avoid These Common Mistakes

❌ No heavily filtered or altered photos.
❌ No photos where the dog looks scared, stressed, or aggressive.
❌ No photos with poor visibility (dark, blurry, or far away).
❌ No photos with food, bones, or anything that could trigger resource guarding.

6. File Format & Naming

  • Submit photos in JPG or PNG format.
  • Rename files with the dog’s name (e.g., “Bella_sitting.jpg” instead of “IMG1234”).
